Of course, celebrating our natural kinks and curls remained tops on just about everyone’s list. “People are going to wear more texture, get more into wearing kinkier, curlier textures,” says Kim Kimble, who has been at the forefront of textured looks with her go-to client Beyoncé.

Their main desire: to see more than just one kind of kink or curl on the runways and red carpet.

“I definitely want to see more options—and not just super kinky or super straight,” shares Ursula Stephen, who is behind the slay of such superstars as Zendaya and Tiffany Haddish and was the visionary behind some of Rihanna’s most celebrated looks.

“And, it’s not just what’s growing out of our scalps, either,” says JStayReady, who is behind Normani’s current hair reign. “It’s texture all across the board, even if it’s not your actual God-given texture.”

Just make sure when you grab that curly wig or weave or a kinky straight ponytail, that it’s believable.

“Even if you don’t want a wig that looks like your natural texture, let it look like a texture that has a resemblance to ethnic hair,” insists Tym Wallace, who has been giving us life with Taraji P. Henson. “Let it read and have the movement that our hair would have.”
