The First-Ever Texture Style Awards To Honor Top Hairstylists In Virtual Ceremony

The inaugural ceremony will stream live July 5.

The best hairstylists in texture will be honored as part of the Texture Style Awards. The first-ever hairstylist competition dedicated to celebrating all four hair textures announced the top 16 finalists earlier this month. The top stylists in each of the four hair categories — straight, wavy, curly, and coily/kinky — will be named July 5 in a special virtual ceremony. The finalists were selected from a pool of 350 submissions voted on by a curated panel of 18 celebrity judges.

In addition, a New Talent Stylist Of The Year Award will be honored, along with industry leaders Keya Neal (Change Agent of The Year) and Nina Tulio and J. Ladner (Beauty Media Of The Year).

Awards founder and celebrity hairstylist Monaè Everett will host the ceremony, with awards presented by celebrity hairstylists Ursula Stephen, Briana Cisneros, Oliver “Kolor King” Adams, and Laura “La La” Chihaia.

“I have been overwhelmed by the beauty community’s support and all of the stylists, brands, and media that used their voices to promote the needed diversity and inclusion in this industry,” said Everett in a press statement. “It warmed my heart to see so many stylists who believed in themselves enough to enter the Texture Style Awards. Most importantly, I am thrilled about the opportunities that winning this competition will bring the entrants.”

Winners will receive an assortment of prizes, including a custom plaque, one-on-one mentorship with a Wella Company ambassador, up to $3000 worth of prizes from sponsors, and marketing and media exposure through partner channels.
