Jergens Recalls Ultra Healing Moisturizer Due To Bacteria Contamination

A household lotion fave just got recalled. Folks, if you or one of your loved ones swear by Jergens lotions, please check your bottles. Kao USA just recalled two different size offerings from the Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer line. The brand announced that the moisturizing units may be contaminated with a bacterium called pluralibacter gergoviae.

The bacteria is reported to have a higher medical risk for those with compromised immune systems and cause infections. Those with healthy immune systems are less susceptible, but do you really want to be slathering some new bacteria onto your body?

So far, the voluntary recall only affects the 3oz and 10oz size offerings manufactured between October 1, 2021 and October 18, 2021. However, Kao shared that “further investigation to determine the scope of the issue is still ongoing.”

To see if your moisturizer is at risk, look at the lot code on the back of the bottle. It’s printed in black lettering and starts with the letters “ZU.”
