Yes, we’re still swooning over the looks from Monday night’s 2022 Met Gala. It is basically the Oscars of fashion — and our fashion faves gave us all sorts of sartorial moments to drool over. Structured dresses, opulent layers, and innovative silhouettes ruled the night, but we couldn’t help but notice their adorned hairstyles (or lack of them).
Sleek, slicked-back chignons and low ponytails gave way to some serious headpiece game. We’re not talking about your Sunday’s best hats or fascinators, either. This was where stylists and designers tipped their creations towards the industrial side of the Gilded Glamour theme.

Normani
The “Wild Side” singer was a velvet dream in a custom two-piece Christian Siriano bodice and skirting that boasted 40 years of velvet fabric. She completed the look with a beret-esque flourish angled on one side with her burgundy-accented tresses pin-curled up into an elegant side bouffant.
La La Anthony
While we weren’t the biggest fans of the lower half of Anthony’s LaQuan Smith creation, we were in love with her concentric rouge and white headpiece. Affixed to a high, sleek ponytail, she served up fashion dimension with angled perfection on one side and an arrangement of bright red roses on the other.
Teyana Taylor
Teyana served up Afrofuturistic vibes in a royal purple gown by Iris van Herpen paired with a custom Malaki headpiece that had us hoping for a close encounter with Taylor’s out-of-this-world look.

Winnie Harlow
The model also rocked an Iris van Herpen look which gave us white swan vibes paired with a blooming bone-meets-glass blooming halo structure. (Yeah, we don’t know how to explain, but it’s epic!)
Janelle Monáe
The “Pynk” singer said her custom Ralph Lauren look was from the future of Gilded Glamour. We loved the gladiator headpiece which featured rows and rows of handcrafted crystals.
Cynthia Erivo
The commercial fashion world was in love with the “sustainability” aspect of the award-winning actress’ “upcycled” headdress. We, however, couldn’t stop celebrating her homage to Black women’s impact on fashion with tignons, geles and headwraps.

Sarah Jessica Parker
Listen, we are Parker fashion stans and were overjoyed to learn that she partnered with Christopher John Rogers to create her grade-A look. And, this custom headdress by milliner Philip Treacy was the perfect accent to complete this look.
