Celeb Hairstylist Johnny Wright Releases ‘Natural & Curly Hair For Dummies’ Book
The natural hair guide also celebrates (and centers) the beauty of natural hair.
Celeb hairstylist Johnny Wright has just released a new book celebrating (and teaching about) the beauty of natural hair. Wright e”Natural & Curly Hair For Dummies” is a foundational course in natural hair basics, covering everything from the science behind texture hair to his top tips and product picks for caring for and styling natural hair in your healthy hair journey.

“This book is a place to come together to learn, to teach, to heal, and to live your natural and curly hair life to the fullest,” said Wright.
More importantly, it creates space for the celebration and centering of kinks, curls and coils.
“I’m here to help build you up, nurture you, and help you embrace your God-given beauty in all its glory,” he added. “If you’ve spent one second not feeling like the radiant being you are because of your hair, that’s one second too many. It’s time to heal. I hope that it helps those on their natural and curly hair journeys and also acts as a resource to those who want to know how to treat textured hair with more love and knowledge.”
“Natural & Curly Hair For Dummies” was written in partnership with the long-running “For Dummies” series. It is the latest in a series of milestones Wright has put his finishing touch on over his more than 30-year career.
Wright earned national renown as our forever First Lady Michelle Obama’s personal hairstylist during the Obama administration, served as creative director for SoftSheen Carson for L’Oreal, and as ambassador for countless brands. He is also responsible for talk show host Tamron Hall’s signature cropped cut and currently works as the key hairstylist on her show.
Most recently, Wright gave us our hair lives in VH1’s “To Catch A Beautician” with Tamar Braxton, where they served up hairstylist ambushes paired with boot camp makeovers.
Everything Wright does is “based on what I love and what I am passionate about — hair,” he told us in a previous interview. “And, I’m also passionate about education.”
