Naomi Osaka is taking a swing at the world of beauty. The number one-ranked tennis player and four-time grand slam champ is set to launch her own new skincare line, KINLÒ, is coming this fall. The new line is slated to be a celebration of the beauty and health of underserved darker-skinned tones.

“I never thought I would ever start my own company,” Osaka wrote on Instagram, following years of endorsement and ambassador deals with host of brands, including Nike, bareMinerals, and Louis Vuitton. The line, she wrote, was “developed to protect and rejuvenate melanated skin tones. I hope these products can help a lot of people and potentially save lives because I really feel that we aren’t protecting ourselves as much as we could.”

Despite ongoing myths, Black can crack and requires love and protection from the sun — and Naomi spends a lot of time in the sun while serving up wins on the court. Even melanin-rich skin needs protection from the sun’s UV rays that can cause dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and skin cancer.

Osaka’s new collection is formulated specifically to help protect and heal melanated skin, including a SPF50 sunscreen, SPF40 tinted face lotion, and protective body spray.

The brand’s name also celebrates Osaka’s bicultural heritage, combining the Japanese (KIN) Haitian Creole (LÒ) words for “gold,” shared the brand on Instagram.

Osaka has previously shared her minimalist approach to beauty, so we expect the new line to be fresh and easy. It’s also slated to be super affordable, at less than $20 per offering.
