Through Herbal Ciddy, she offers up everything from haircare and skincare must-haves and body moisturizers to vitamin supplements and detox teas to encourage lifestyle changes that support the mind, body, and spirit. Collections are formulated for all skin types with ingredients like matcha, avocado, turmeric and rose to address such issues as acne, pigmentation, and stretch marks.

And, while she has enjoyed a loyal consumer base for her healing products, she got a much-needed marketing boost last summer from one of the most recognizable names in the world: Beyoncé. The music mogul and her fashion stylist Zerina Akers included Morrer’s brand in their curated “Black Parade Route” directory which put a spotlight on Black-owned brands across the country.

“I don’t know who submitted me, but the way God looks out for me — it’s unbelievable,” Morrer wrote on Instagram at the time.

But, she’s not just resting on name-dropping to continue building her brand. The entrepreneur is sharing her knowledge with others while helping to lift her customers’ self-confidence. Here, Morrer shares the importance of holistic healing skincare, why it’s crucial to understand one’s skin, and the power of self-love.

SADIAA: Congratulations on your success! What inspired you to launch your brand?
CIDNEY MORRER:
I started my business, trying to tackle my skincare issues. I had dehydrated skin and nothing worked for me. With research and experience as a chef, I was able to create effective skincare products.

SADIAA: How did being featured on ‘Black Parade Route’ impact your business?
CIDNEY:
The exposure from the ‘Black Parade Route’ increased awareness to existing and new customers. Customers repeat purchases when they know a lot of a business and trust them. To be acknowledged by such a successful woman was inspiring.

SADIAA: Even with exposure, what do you think makes your business stand out?
CIDNEY:
I think my business stands out because my content speaks for itself. Good concepts and consistent
interaction with your audience make a business more eye-catching from social media, email marketing, packaging, and more. I’m always thinking of ways to make customers eager to use my products.

SADIAA: What is your hero product?
CIDNEY:
The Sea Moss Cleanser gets the most sales and positive feedback. Customers submit reviews as well as [send us] before-and-after pictures.

SADIAA: You often talk about holistic skincare, with products being grounded in wellness. Why is that so important?
CIDNEY: With skin being the most prominent organic on your body, we must be mindful that chemicals absorb into the skin, building up over time. When a disease or skin condition occurs, we often have difficulty identifying where the problem came from. Still, if you eliminate harsh chemicals, it’s possible to prevent those issues or have an easier time identifying the cause.

SADIAA: As our communities continue to amplify Black voices, why is it important to celebrate Black beauty brands?
CIDNEY:
The struggle Black women have with self-esteem is more than skin deep. But “when you look good, you feel good.” Feeling attractive boosts confidence and your mood. Self-care is a step towards self-love.

SADIAA: What has been the most rewarding part of your business?
CIDNEY:
The most rewarding part of my business is freedom. While it can be overwhelming, I have the opportunity to learn various roles. I’m a business owner, but I’m also a photographer, graphic designer, marketing strategist, and more. I can work in whatever field I feel is crucial to making my business successful.

SADIAA: What does success look like for you?
CIDNEY:
I will have reached success when my business can run without me. If I decided to step away from my business for a day, week, or month, it would still thrive. That is what success looks like to me.
