Five Black women have just entered the CBD business with their new Texas-based store, The Wellness Experience. Kendra Halliday partnered with co-founders Toniqua Green, Tabitha Harris, Dr. Samone Brown, and Dr. Stacia’ Alexander to create the space centering Black women and providing access to CBD-infused wellness and self-care essentials.
CBD, cannabidiol, is a cannabis extract without the psychoactive effects (so, no, you won’t get high off of it). But, it will make you feel good — good as in pain relief, anxiety reduction, and skincare. The store’s offerings include a wide range of CBD-infused tinctures, edibles, energy drinks, face masks, weight loss supplements, feminine products, and more to address recovery, beauty, wellness, and even pet-care needs.

“Our community deserves holistic options,” said Halliday in a recent statement. “We are finding customers who feel that their wellness needs are often not met.”
The store also positions the five women to be part of a booming market the BDSA predicts could reach $19.5 billion by 2025. The CBD market is also overwhelmingly White and male. According to Marijuana Business Daily, less than 5% of cannabis business owners are Black. African Americans continue to face disparities within the cannabis industry, from overcriminalization for usage to lack of representation in ownership and financing. Yet, communities of color — especially African American and Hispanic — are the most likely to seek out natural, organic alternatives to mainstream medicine.
Halliday and her co-founders hope to be one of those alternatives as they gain their footing in the community. “It’s about elevating our customers’ mental, physical, and social aspects,” said Halliday.
The Wellness Experience is located at 5100 Eldorado Parkway in McKinney, Tex. Learn more at cbdwellness365.com.
