A new awards gala is bringing Hollywood power to Dallas. The inaugural “Dallas Celeb Fashion Award” is kicking off this weekend with a powerhouse list of pioneering Black celebrity designers, including the late Virgil Abloh and Andre’ Leon Talley. Both were renowned for breaking fashion barriers and celebrating Blacks in fashion.

The event is the brainchild of veteran media maven Lisa Stroud. “I created this star-studded event to honor Black celebrities with iconic brands, to showcase Black designers, and to pay homage to fashion icons,” said Stroud in a press statement. “Let’s celebrate how they didn’t wait for a seat at the table – they built their own.”

The gala will also feature a star-studded fashion show with surprise appearances from fashion, sports, and entertainment royalty. Stroud said to expect more surprises for the larger-than life-event, “which is a first-of-its-kind for the city of Dallas.”

Entertainment personality LeTitia Owens and Griff, comedian and co-host of “Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell,” are slated to emcee the event with Emmy Award-winning Ro Parrish covering the red carpet.

Event proceeds will benefit various Dallas/Fort Worth area non-profit organizations specializing in services for the homeless, single mothers, senior citizens, and mental health and awareness.
