Well, that was quick. Fashion legend Dapper Dan‘s newest release just sold out. In minutes. Again.

The Harlemite had teamed up with GAP for his third hoodie drop showing off his signature “logomania” skills with a reworked “DAP” logo. The limited-edition hoodies were released exclusively at Gap’s Harlem location on Tuesday, where Dan signed merch, and released globally Wednesday afternoon. Given that the previous two drops also sold out quickly, you needed to have had your clicking fingers primed in order to successfully add these bad boys to your cart.

We are nursing our wounds for not setting our clocks, but still ogling over the already-classic design. The drop features Dan’s upcycled “DAP” logo applique paired with an embroidered cursive “Harlem,” with both sitting atop four colorways comprised of plaid and houndstooth prints.

For those wondering why the hoodie mania, Daniel Dan, aka Dapper Dan, has earned icon status for his impact on streetwear and hip-hop fashion since the ’80s. Known as the “king of knock-offs,” he would recreate logos of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Gucci, turning them into must-haves for everyone from Salt ‘N Pepa, L.L. Cool J, and Roxanne Shanté to Megan Thee Stallion, Nick Cannon, and Beyoncé.

Once reviled by those fashion houses, he is now a must-have collaborator. Gucci was even ironically called out for copying one of his designs — and then collaborated with him. In 2021, Dan made history as the first-ever Black designer to win the CFDA’s Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

But back to the hoodies. If you still want to get your hands on a piece of this fashion history, you may be able to find it in select stores (they retail for $128) or on reseller sites (because, capitalism). Otherwise, you’ll be like us, hoping for a fourth drop. Happy hunting!
