Awards season is here, and you know we’re all about the Black beauty magic! But let’s be real—if you were’t really feeling Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet recaps, we totally get it. The “wow” moments were scarce. That said, Zendaya was one of the few who pulled up to remind everyone why she stays unmatched in beauty and style.
Nominated for her role in Challengers, Zendaya hit the carpet in a jaw-dropping burnt-orange silk gown, styled by her go-to creative partner, Law Roach. The look? A stunning tribute to Black Hollywood glamour that left us swooning. Draped in Louis Vuitton couture and rocking a retro wave bob pinned to perfection, Zendaya honored 1950s singer, Joyce Bryant, who was known as the “Bronze Blond Bombshell.”
Bryant broke barriers and redefined Black-beauty with her iconic mermaid gowns and plunging sweetheart necklines. Zendaya’s tangerine silk gown channeled Bryant’s bold elegance with a reimagined modern take on her silhouette, featuring a flowing half-train and monochromatic palette.

But the homage didn’t stop there. Zendaya’s look also celebrated icons like Diahann Carroll, the first Black woman to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in 1969, and Eartha Kitt, whose captivating style and confidence remain legendary. These tributes were more than fashion choices—they were reminders that representation on the red carpet goes beyond aesthetics. It’s also about storytelling, honoring legacies, and redefining cultural narratives.
Her ability to channel the grace and sophistication of these trailblazers while adding her own contemporary spin are a testament to why Zendaya has earned her own place as a style icon.
With this look, Zendaya has once again set the standard for how to merge style, history, and representation, cementing her place as a torchbearer for a new generation of Hollywood glamour.
