Pat McGrath, long considered the mother of makeup, is birthing a brand-new collection with Louis Vuitton.
McGrath has been making beauty history for decades. From serving up runway glam to red-hot covers and consistently sold-out beauty drops, she has continuously raised the bar on luxurious beauty. The first makeup artist to receive damehood and the first to ever receive the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Founder’s Award, McGrath has spent her career pushing beauty forward. And let’s not forget—her own makeup brand, PAT McGRATH LABS, broke boundaries when it was valued at a billion dollars.
Now, she’s adding another first to her legacy. Just ahead of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2025 show, the legendary artist has been named creative director of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the fashion house’s first-ever makeup line.

“Working backstage at Louis Vuitton shows for over 20 years, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation,” said McGrath. “Beauty is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”
McGrath has been developing the line for the past four years—all while leading her own billion-dollar beauty empire and crafting looks for 15 shows this season alone.
But Louis Vuitton’s foray into beauty isn’t entirely new. McGrath has been given full access to the brand’s archives, which include vanity cases designed to transport delicate perfumes and cosmetics dating back to 1854, along with powder compacts, brushes, and mirrors from the 1920s. Now, La Beauté Louis Vuitton is set to take luxury beauty into the 21st century with an expansive collection, that includes an anticipated 55 lipsticks, 10 tinted lip balms, and eight eyeshadow quads.
“La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a natural business evolution, driven by our meticulous attention to quality, formula, and innovation,” says Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton. “Through this new universe, we have the opportunity to further accompany clients in their everyday lives with purpose and pleasure, while continuing to celebrate our creativity and heritage.”
Get your coins ready, the collection is set to drop this fall.
