Men’s grooming brand Bevel is helping Black men and women process trauma in the wake of a global pandemic and civil unrest in the wake of George Floyd’s killing by a police officer.
For a limited time, customers can get a free 30-day membership to Headspace, a guided meditation and mindfulness app designed to help deal with stress and anxiety.
“This is purely about helping our community by providing the tools they need to deal with the stress and the trauma that can come with being Black in America,” said Tia Cummings, vice president of marketing at Walker & Company, the Procter & Gamble-owned parent company of Bevel, in a recent statement.

“The Black community is so much less likely to think about mental health and seek out any help for it. We thought of this as a way of easing people into thinking about mindfulness and meditation to help manage their stress.”
Bevel was founded by Tristan Walker to provide shaving tools designed especially for men with kinky curly hair and their unique grooming needs.

“We exist to really support our primary consumer base and to help them really look and feel their best,” said Cummings. “That’s why all of the things we do outside of selling products are to take care of and support our community,” she said.
In just the past year, Bevel has partnered with Chicago’s Urban Prep Academies to fund college tours, application fees, and test prep fees for the classes of 2020 and 2021, as well as with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for her Strength in Beauty fund.
