Created by Shemika Harmitt, Prime Beauty is all about reminding women of color that our needs are a priority. “This indie brand is dedicated to making women of color a priority in the beauty industry,” the brand shares on the site. “We are a fun celebration of our beauty, our cultures and all that we contribute to the world. Our goal is to always celebrate the things that make us beautiful, inside and out, through our products.”

The brand currently offers loose powder highlighters, matte liquid lipsticks and shimmery loose powder eyeshadows — including this Carnival-inspired Island Gyal ($32) palette.
