When Hype Hair kicked off 2019 talking about Black hair and masculinity, many gave me some serious side-eye. But, the conversations around men’s grooming have shifted tremendously over the year from just jokes to men being comfortable with embracing their hair swag, including celebs like Chris Brown, Yung Joc, and Usher. Also, in that conversation is man weaves, or male units.

“Men are getting super creative with these man weaves. It’s magical,” says Larry. “Men that are balding or thinning now they have an answer to that. It really should be celebrated, and they should not be ashamed of getting a little hair enhancement here and there. They are reinventing themselves and changing up their self-esteem. I think it’s dope.”
