Pear Nova Is Serving Up Wakanda-Inspired Nail Slay With First-Ever ‘Black Panther’ Faux Nail Collection

Black-owned nail care brand Pear Nova has entered the press-on nail game in the most epic way possible. The Chicago-based brand recently debuted its first-ever “Layover” collection in a major collaboration with Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film.

“From Wakanda’s rich culture to female governance, I was completely inspired by their world and everything in it,” said Pear Nova founder Rachel James. “In creating our first collection of Layovers, I wanted to pay homage to the story that inspired so many and express the adoration I felt for Black Panther and Wakanda. I also wanted to develop a product that would make my sons proud, and I think with this collection, we’ve accomplished all of that and more.”

The faux nail collection features three different custom sets to embody the “resilience, vibrancy and innovation” of the women in the film.

The afro-futuristic collection is three years in the making, with James commissioning nail artist Spifster Sutton to design looks inspired by the lead women of Wakanda, Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Shuri (Letitia Wright) and Okoye (Danai Gurira), general of the Dora Milaje. “I wanted each set to essentially look like what each of these characters would naturally ask for at the [imaginary] ‘Wakandan Spifster salon & spa,'” said Sutton.

Each set comes with 24 almond-shaped luxury faux nails, one nail file/buffer, one cuticle stick, and one nail glue to lock them in.

Vibranium Claws

Wakandan Tech 101 

This one is giving us all the Shuri feels. Serve up tech-inspired slay with this minimalistic design, featuring a transparent nail base accented with gradient grey tips and bold, white line down the center. We could almost see ourselves getting our own suit with these!

Rituals + Royals

This Dora Milaje-inspired design just might be a favorite set with its punchy palette. The nails feature multi-colored brush strokes and graphic lines with a matte finish for an elevated look.
