Tracee Ellis Ross Just Dropped A Blow Dryer Designed For Natural Hair

Tracee Ellis Ross is officially bringing the heat to her natural haircare line PATTERN with a stylish new blowdryer set. Ross revealed the brand’s first-ever heat tool offering on Monday, showcasing the dryer designed to serve up high performance without heat damage.

Ross said she is looking to “usher in a new era of curl-conscious heat,” in a recent statement. “My dream has been to create heat tools that can both honor your pattern and access all the possibilities of our hair without damaging it,” shared Ross in a recent statement.

The natural-toned ceramic blow dryer features the standard three heat, two-speed settings, and a lock-in cool shot button, along with a special switch to activate cuticle smoothing ions. It also comes with four ground-breaking attachments designed to help style textured tresses — whether with a sleek blowout or fluffed-up natural kinks and curls.

“I have long wanted to reframe our community’s relationship with heat,” added Ross, who, like many naturalistas, has experienced the irreversible effects of heat damage. Instead of big chopping, she found new ways to style. “I started using heat to stretch, bend and cajole my hair into new shapes and styles instead of using it to press or defeat my pattern. Through education, nurturing my pattern with ingredients and formulas, I realized that when used correctly heat could unlock endless possibilities.”

Here is a breakdown of the four dryer attachments:

• The Diffuser
  Cheat natural drying time with this ventilated diffuser featuring aluminum plating and vortex shaping for controlled airflow and radiant heat to dry curls quicker and safer.
  
• Wide Tooth Comb
  The comb is the blow-drying version of the brand’s stand-alone wide-tooth comb for detangling and smoothing.

  If you love the brand’s shower brush, you’ll love this attachment. It’s a win for stretching out textured tresses while detangling.
  
• Concentrator Nozzle
  Want that old-school salon set? Achieve sleek blowout or voluminous bounce with this focused airflow attachment.

Ross also understands that no blow-dry is safe without the proper heat-styling protection. So, we’re glad PATTERN also pulled up with a Heat Protectant formulated with crambe abyssinica seed, sunflower, and jojoba oils to combat heat damage while nourishing tresses. There is also a new Shine Spray mist infused with castor oil and plumeria flower extract to reduce frizz and offer up healthier-looking hair.

The PATTERN Blow Dryer retails for $189, with the Heat Protectant and Shine Spray both retailing for $20 each. All offerings are currently available on patternbeauty.com and will hit Ulta beauty stores later this year.
