Rachel shared that she used a combination of primers and foundation to achieve Bre’s flawless finish. “I blended two primers because I knew she was going to be out in the sun: NYX Cosmetics oil-free primer ($14) to remove the shine and Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36). I followed up with NYX Cosmetics Total Control Drop Foundation ($13.99) which was a perfect match.”

For the rest of her makeup look, Rachel played up the colors in Bre’s dress. “We wanted to go with something colorful, something summer appropriate,” said Rachel. “With her print dress, I wanted to really highlight the colors, so we did a nice red orange lip: Lady Danger by MAC ($17).”

For her eyes, Rachel took a more subdued approach with a smokey bronzed look. “We did a shimmery gold with a nice brownish hue. Something not overwhelming. And then, we used NYX Cosmetics’ deep blue shimmer eyeliner underneath.”

It doesn’t hurt to have such a beautiful to face to work, but the results were definitely a summer win!

Rachel also shared tips on how to avoid a major meltdown when the temperature rises.

“The best thing to do, if you have to do makeup in the summer, is use setting powder (try Sacha Buttercup, $20 or AC Cosmetics, $22) and oil remover spray (try Urban Decay, $32) to keep that matte finish you are looking for. Also, make sure to carry a little compact powder to blot away the shine. That’s key in the summer.”
