Google Commits $175M+ To Support Black-Owned & Underserved Businesses

The new program includes $50 million in financing and grants for Black-owned small businesses.

Black-owned businesses are getting a major boost right now in the midst of civil unrest across the country. The latest company to offer up financial resources is Google. The digital platform behemoth has announced a $175 million+ economic opportunity package to support Black business owners, startup founders, job seekers, and developers.

The funds would provide:

  • $50 million in financing and grants for Black-owned small businesses in partnership with Opportunity Finance Network.
  • $100 million in funding for Black-led capital firms, startups, and organizations supporting Black entrepreneurs.
  • $15 million in job training through partners like the National Urban League.
  • $10 million+ to help improve the Black community’s access to education, equipment and economic opportunities in Google’s developer ecosystem.

The program also includes Google for Startups Accelerator for Black Founders, a new three-month mentorship for high potential startups program, and an expanded Digital Coaches program to provide 50,000 U.S.-based Black-owned businesses with the mentorship, networking, and training.

In addition, YouTube will provide an additional $100M to help amplify Black creators and artists.
